LANCASTER — "Hidden in the northeastern woods of Garrard County is a giant pile of trash, known as the Old Monahan Farm Dump.
"The decades-old pile of wood, appliances, plastic, glass and metal lies against the side of a 20-foot cliff and stretches nearly to the top.
"Swaths of torn garbage bags and a bright green garden hose hang from the cliff wall at the top of the pile like forgotten party streamers. Giant tractor tires, rotting furniture, a rusted 55-gallon drum and even an old wet-dry vacuum lie scattered around the bottom."

"Garrard County Solid Waste Coordinator Chris Thomason takes a photo of a portion of the Cone Farm Dump with his cell phone. The Cone Farm Dump, which stretches as long as a football field and contains an estimated 277 cubic yards of trash, is one of two in northeastern Garrard County getting cleaned up using grant money from the Kentucky Pride program."
